Prof. dr hab. Zygmunt Litwińczuk has been elected the Rector of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin for 2016-2020 term of office.







On 5 April 2016, in compliance with the electoral calendar approved by the University Election Committee, the elections for the post of the Rector for 2016-2020 term of office were held. The Council of Electors, representatives of the whole academic community, consists of 269 people. In a secret vote 264 valid votes were cast. 155 electors chose Professor Zygmunt Litwińczuk  XI Rector of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin.


Prof. dr hab. Zygmunt Litwińczuk is the leading specialist in cattle breeding both in Poland and abroad. He conducts research in the field of cattle usage for milk and meat production and protection of genetic resources of livestock, particularly the restitution of lowland breed in Poland. He was granted the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by Podlaska Academy in Siedlce (2008) and University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn (2012). Professor Litwińczuk is employed in the Faculty of Biology and Animal Breeding where he is currently Head of the Department of Cattle Breeding and Protection of Genetic Resources.



In the near future, the elections of vice-rectors and deans of all Faculties will be held at the University. The new term of office of the lately elected authorities of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin will begin on 1 September 2016 and will last until 31 August 2020.
